I’m terrible and I forget to take pictures when I’m at festivals. Pics of Dizzy Rascal, Chromeo, Friendly Fires (favorite of the weekend), St. Vincent, and YACHT.
Festivals
Aeroplane – Save Me Now
Death Cab for Cutie – Doors Unlocked And Open (Cut Copy Remix)
YACHT – Psychic City (Classixx Remix)
There must be something in the Portland, Oregon air because some of my favorite indie dance bands (Starfucker & YACHT) call it home. Caught half of YACHT’s set at FYF due to conflicts so I’m excited to see a full performance at TI. Tyler of Classixx was at The Rapture’s show last week and I heard their album is almost finished.
Chromeo – Night by Night (Siriusmo Remix)
Empire of the Sun – Standing on the Shore (Cassian Remix)
OohLAL.A. Music Festival
The French are invading Los Angeles over three nights for OohLAL.A. Festival!
Favorites Nouvelle Vague performs Dawn of Innocence, a musical directed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, on Thursday and Etienne de Crecy spins on Saturday.
Nouvelle Vague – Dance With Me
Etienne de Crecy – Am I Wrong
Treasure Island Music Festival Lineup
Austin City Limits 2011
Here are a dozen artists I’d make a play for at ACL if I was going:
Chromeo
The duo know how to bring the funk, and stay classy while doing so. They might bring out a famous friend or two to join in on the jam like they did at Coachella and I wouldn’t wanna miss that.
Chromeo – When the Night Falls (Breakbot Remix)
Pretty Lights
As I witnessed at Identify Festival in San Diego, if you like to dance dirty or trip to insane visuals Pretty Lights is your man.
Pretty Lights – I Can See it in Your Face
Pretty Lights – I Can See it in Your Face
Cut Copy
Hands down the most fun performance at Coachella this year and they closed Pacific Festival with a raging dance party.
Cut Copy – Lights & Music (Boys Noize Happy Birthday Remix)

Empire of the Sun
Talk about exhibitionists! If their performance at the Music Box or at Coachella are any indication, EOTS will bring their grandiose setup to ACL and take you to another planet.

Broken Social Scene
One of my favorite shows from 2010; BSS are magical live. They might be taking an indefinite hiatus soon because they announced that their performance at FYF would be the last in LA for a long time. I I wouldn’t miss them for the world.
Broken Social Scene – Meet Me in the Basement

Foster the People
After catching their free show at the Echo before their Coachella debut, I predicted FTP were going to blow up. They did (proof was the sardine packed tent), and they are so much fun life.
Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (Gigamesh Remix)

Cults
Cults is a closed venue type of band. While I thought their show at the Echo was fantastic, their set at FYF was great but not amazing. I’d like to give them another chance at an outdoor setting.
Cults – Go Outside (Menahan Street Band Remix)

Theophilus London
His energy far exceeded the intimate Purple Room at the Standard Hotel last year and he’s sure to pump you up.
Theophilus London – Why Even Try (RAC Remix)

Arcade Fire
A surreal experience at Coachella. Wouldn’t miss them.
Arcade Fire – No Cars Go (Live)

The Antlers
Caught them last year and were surprised how tight and great they sounded despite the chaos that was Make Music Pasadena.
The Antlers – Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out

Fleet Foxes
Probably one of the best live bands right now. Their musical talent is insane and I was floored at the number of interchanging intstruments.
Fleet Foxes – Mykonos

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
I value my concert companions opinions so when they say DEJJ is solid live, I believe them.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. – Simple Girl

Stevie Wonder
He’s a legend.

Postcards from Australia
Photos taken in Hobart, Tasmania; Sydney, Melbourne, Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island, and Whitehaven Beach, Australia.
I jumped out of a plane from 10,000ft and then went scuba diving in Great Barrier Reef the very next day. The MONA museum in Tasmania is the coolest museum I have ever been to and it is entirely privately funded by a guys personal art collection. I attended my first international music festival, Good Vibrations. The Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains came out of a two week cloud coverage just for us. The Great Ocean Road puts PCH to shame.
