Year 8. LCD Soundsystem was incredible, Sia was my surprise favorite of the weekend, and I want to live in Despacio forever.

Beyond Wonderland 2016
Trekked to San Manuel Amphitheater on Friday for Beyond Wonderland. Made it in time to catch Chris Lake, Marshmello, and Galantis. I really enjoyed Marshmello, and the vibes at Galantis were fun but they played a much stronger set at the Wiltern.

Escaped the psycho circus this past Halloween.
Postcards from Palm Springs
October is the half birthday between this years and next years Coachella, so of course I had to celebrate with a weekend getaway to the desert. The water shortage in California is apparent in the photos, as the golf course looks neglected and dry. Next year marks my 8th Coachella, and I’ve never seen the grass look so dead before. Below is a picture from Coachella 2011 that shows how lush the grass used to be.

Saint Motel – Just My Type
Homegrown in sunny Los Angeles and playing Sunday of Coachella, Saint Motel is my current favorite. They have those dancey Grouplove or Capital Cities vibes that just makes me want to boogie! I hope they have another show in April because I’m afraid their set time at Coachella will be super early, and past track record shows I have a hard time rallying early on Sundays.
What So Not – JAGUAR
I don’t know how this duo slipped under my radar, but at least I found them before Coachella! Playing Saturday, April 11, What So Not is the collaboration of Aussies Flume & Emoh Instead. Although lately it seems that Flume hasn’t been touring under the moniker, I’m not missing this set in case there he shows up in April.
Coachella 2015 Lineup
The headliners are underwhelming but the undercard is stacked! Most excited about Odesza, Todd Terje & The Olsens, Belle & Sebastian, Kygo, & Duke Dumont. These are artists I am huge fans of, but haven’t been able to see yet.

Of course I forgot to take pics during the festival. I only remembered for Phoenix, which was a good thing.
Coachella 2013 Predictions
Now I know these lists are everywhere, and people make this a huge deal, but this list is more for me and less for you. It’s a running tally to help me keep track of bands that I want to see next year; those who I can potentially see at Coachella and bands that require me to purchase a concert ticket to a solo date in LA instead. It won’t be all inclusive across genres because I am focusing on bands that I am personally interested in seeing, not all artists that could be at Coachella. So I guess I’m really not making Coachella predictions so much as I am just internet sleuthing to figure out my concert budget needs for next year.
